This is not a difficult task to do; just follow the Order Of Service. Opening Words can be found n the back of the songbook if you do not have your own selection. Information about the speaker is in the Order Of Service.

Obtain name of RE member who will light the chalice and announce to the congregation.

Make sure that songbooks are put out (one on every other seat) unless songsheets are being used. Announce title of song and page number. Request congregation to stand when singing.

Lead the discussion (or the speaker can if he/she prefers). Allow time for the hand microphone to reach person who wishes to say something. Try to keep a watchful eye on the time and do not allow any one person to dominate the discussion if possible.

Any honorarium will be taken care of by the Treasurer after the service.

Your job is important! You are the first University Unitarian Universalist that visitors and members see as they arrive. Give everyone a warm welcome.

• Receive the order of service

• Receive the order of service and a Visitor’s Packet
• Are encouraged to sign the Guest Book.
• Fill out the Guest Tag with a marker.

• Pass out the baskets during the offertory interlude.
• Return the baskets to the Treasurer.
• Fill out small tablet noting date and number present.

• Be at door one half hour before service begins if possible.
• Be sure materials are on table. (Including pamphlets).
• Be alert to those who might want to sign the Guest Book or the Membership Book.
