by Stacy Schiff
A different look at "fiery wisp of a girl" that grows up to be an enterprising politician. Ms. Schiff creates a portrait of an incestuous family. She has researched her subject and has come to understand the social and political practices of the day. Cleo was drawn to Caesar not just for his power but because of like political agendas and similar personalities. She had enlightened schooling, like Caesar, in the traditional Greek education of the times. She gave speeches and probably spoke 9 languages. (Out in paperback Sept. 6th)
